3 Factors That Can Make Your Septic Pumping Costs Higher

Posted on: 9 February 2018

Having a septic tank pumped is just one of those usual maintenance tasks that comes along with being a homeowner, and for the most part, it is a relatively inexpensive maintenance task to contend with. Plus, septic tank pumping is not something that has to be done that often. As a general estimate, a septic tank pumping should cost you somewhere between $245 and $295 and will only need to be pumped every two or three years in most cases. However, there are some circumstances in which the cost of having the tank pumped can be somewhat higher than average.

Your septic tank is especially hard to get to.

The location of your septic tank wouldn't normally have anything to do with how much you are charged for cleaning it out. However, with that being said, there are limitations to that fact. If your septic tank is in an especially hard-to-get-to location, it can make the overall cost a little higher because the pumping process will take longer to accomplish. For example, if your septic tank is located on a steep incline, in the middle of a bunch of trees, or somewhere that it is otherwise hard for the pumping truck to access, the costs may be higher.

Your septic tank requires digging to access.

When septic tanks are installed in modern times, they are situated in a way on the property and in the ground that makes them easy to access for cleaning and maintenance purposes. However, with older septic tanks, this is not always the case. There may be no easy line of access for the septic pumping service technician to use, so they may have to dig several feet into the ground to access a port to clean the tank. In these cases, you should expect to be charged a little more because the time to complete the task will be longer.

Your septic tank has not been pumped in a long time.

It is recommended that you have your septic tank pumped regularly for the life of your whole septic system. However, not having the tank pumped regularly can also cause other problems, including making it more time-consuming to clean when you do hire someone to come and pump it. Because a tank that hasn't been pumped for a lot of years is a bigger issue to contend with, you could end up spending more money to have the work performed.

Exploring Septic Services

Hello, my name is Samuel. Welcome to my site. I am here to discuss all of the things you need to know about septic services. When I moved into my home, I had to learn about septic maintenance on my own through several emergency repair situations. If I had done my research ahead of time, it is highly likely I would have been able to avoid these situations altogether. I would like to use this site to talk about the septic services you can use to keep the need for emergency repairs at bay. Please come by often to learn more and to keep your property safe.
